    A covered walkway leads past the Master Suite bathroom – an ultimate haven of design and beauty – to the Master Suite bedroom with its wrap-around balcony and spectacular ocean views. Dominated by a 4-poster King Bed looking out to its balcony and onto the sea, the Suite features timber wood floors, large dresser area in panelled wood and a private staircase down to the Pool and Deck area below. Amenities at Villa Awang Bali
The villa is a beautiful property on 3 separate levels which cascade down to its cliff-top frontage and exceptional ocean vistas. Below is a brief description highlighting the villa features and amenities on each distinct level of the villa.

Level 1 – Entertainment:
This level features the villa’s entrance, car port and private front garden with lily ponds, Balinese temple and Buddha statue. Steps lead up to the impressive double doors which open to the entrance foyer and main entertainment pavilion.

This pavilion is the ideal place to entertain, relax and enjoy fine-dining and features a large lounge area, dining table for 8 to the side of which is located the villa’s state-of-the-art kitchen where your personal chef prepares culinary delights for your pleasure. The vast pavilion benefits from huge sliding glass doors which can be closed or opened out to the gentle ocean breezes.

In front of the pavilion is a large deck area, stretching the entire width of the property – a great place to dine al fresco, sip a cocktail or catch some rays. It leads along a covered pathway to the Master Suite with its delightful king bedroom and feature bathroom (see accommodation page).

Stairs in the entertainment pavilion or to the side of the imposing deck area lead down to Level 2 of this stylish property…

Level 2 – Pool & Accommodations:
The stairs sweep out onto the 20m infinity Pool and large deck area replete with sun loungers and parasols to while away lazy days catching up on your reading or latest tunes in between soothing dips in the pool…

Three of the 4 villa bedrooms are located on this level of the villa – the Ocean Suite and Pool Suites 1 & 2 – each enjoying great views out to the ocean or across the pool and villa’s mature tropical flora and fauna.

For further entertainment and relaxation, there is a large lounge with super-comfy elliptical sofa to unwind on. The room also comes with a flat-screen TV, DVD and Music System to catch a movie or enjoy some summer sounds. To its side is a convenient WC.

Level 3 – Clifftop Garden & Plunge Pool:
Steps lead down from the Pool to the villa’s absolute cliff-top frontage where guests can enjoy spectacular views of the beach caressed by crystal-clear waters. Savour the picture-perfect images of the waves breaking on the reef and the local fishing boats harvesting their sought-after seaweed.

The garden features a large plunge pool with Jacuzzi – ideal for a dip or for children to play in – which is fed from the infinity pool above as it cascades down a rock grotto. To the side of the plunge pool is an invitingly large Bale to take a nap or simply admire the vistas on offer. Behind the pool is a purpose-built BBQ area and bar/kitchen, just what you need for that sumptuous BBQ banquet on the manicured lawn at dusk… Simply exquisite!

And, if you would like to walk down to the beach, the villa has its own private walkway down to the sandy beach below.

Uluwatu Bali

The Bukit Peninsula is southernmost point of Bali, Indonesia.
This is a large limestone peninsula which, bar a sliver of land just south of the airport, would be a separate island. It is rugged and dry, and pre-tourist development this was a real backwater of Bali.

The Bukit (as it is commonly referred to) includes the famous cliff-hanging temple at Uluwatu, a number of Bali’s very best beaches including Balangan, and the top surfing spots on the island. As is so often the case, it was intrepid surfers who really opened up the eyes of the world to this part of the island.

The two main towns with strong local communities on the Bukit are Pecatu and Ungasan.

This article covers the whole of the Bukit Peninsula south of Jimbaran and west of Nusa Dua.

The Bukit Peninsula is connected to Kuta through Jimbaran by the busy Jalan Bypass Nusa Dua and this is the only route in. Take this main road south to the junction with Jalan Uluwatu II (the famous McDonald’s junction), turn west towards Jimbaran Bay, continue about 2 km and at the four road junction make a sharp left up the hill (signposted for Uluwatu). Continue on this road into the heart of the peninsula.

A taxi from Kuta to Uluwatu Bali for example takes 30 to 40 minutes on winding roads and will cost about Rp 120,000 one-way. If you are just visiting for the day, consider asking the driver to wait trip as it can be difficult to find transport back. Figure on paying the taxi driver Rp 20,000/hour to wait. Joining a tour can be a cheaper way of getting to Uluwatu and this destination is very widely offered by tour operators all over the island.

Sports & nature

Sports & natureUluwatu Temple (Pura Uluwatu) is one of Bali's nine key directional temples. Though a small temple was claimed to have existed beforehand, the structure was significantly expanded by a Javanese sage, Empu Kuturan in the 11th Century. Another sage from East Java, Dang Hyang Nirartha is credited for constructing the padmasana shrines and is claimed to have attained Moksha here. Even more remarkable than the temple itself is its location, perched on a steep cliff 70 metres above the roaring Indian ocean waves. There are more steep headlands on either side and sunsets over Uluwatu are a sight to behold.

The entrance fee from 2012 is Rp 30,000 and you need to be properly dressed to enter. Sarongs and sashes are available free at the entrance. Guides, once famously mercenary, hassle visitors less than they used to, although they will offer to "protect" you from the monkeys, for a tip of course. Note that while you are free to walk around the temple grounds, the central courtyards can only be entered during special rituals.

The temple is inhabited by large number of monkeys, who are extremely adept at snatching visitors' belonging, including bags, cameras and eyeglasses. Keep a very close grip on all your belongings and stow away your eyeglasses if at all possible. If you do have something taken, the monkeys can usually be induced to exchange it for some fruit. Needless to say, rewarding the monkeys like this only encourages them to steal more. Locals and even the temple priest or monkey ranger will be happy to do the job for you, for NO tip required.
The cliff is fascinating but the temple itself is not as impressive as others in Bali.
There is also a very scenic cave underneath with rock formations leading onto a beach close to the temple. This is a popular spot for surfers.

Nightlife info

The nightlife in Uluwatu offers something that is totally different from the normal nightlife in Bali. Uluwatu is commonly associated with a calm atmosphere, hence if you are not a big party people yourself, then this place suits your preference. However, if you still like to discover the nighlife of Uluwatu, you should definitely visit Single FIN.
Having dinner near the seaside is very common in Uluwatu, but here you can have dinner on the side of a cliff! Now that’s extra ordinary! The views are just amazing, the food is great, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. Also, the place is huge. There are also parties on Wednesdays and Sundays, which are pretty big and fun.

Culture and history info

Culture and history infoUluwatu is a very well known destination among surfing enthusiasts. Most of the surf spots are only suitable for advanced or expert surfers though - the waves are big here. The main surfing spots are Uluwatu, Dreamland, Padang-Padang, Bingin/Impossibles and Suluban.

Kecak Dance (monkey dance) performances are held at Uluwatu temple daily between 6PM and 7PM. Tickets for the visually spectacular, if rather unoriginal show (it was invented in the 1930s), cost Rp 100,000 (Feb 14).

Choosing to get married or renewing vows in Bali is increasingly popular, and the Bukit Peninsula is the most popular destination for such ceremonies. There is a stunning, modernist, purpose-built cliff-front wedding chapel close to Nyang Nyang Beach and the Bulgari Hotel, and a number of resorts offer specialist wedding packages and planning.
